2014 The New and exciting Year!

What an awful month this has been, the amount of rain we have seen has been unreal, but then again at least we haven’t had as much as the South West!

This month has been seriously busy, not so much on the competition front but doing general yard work, sorting out horses, training etc.

Over December I gave the horses a few weeks holiday, but now we are back again training hard and getting fit for competitions starting in Feb/March.

I have taken Donnie for a few lessons with my trainer Sharon Edwards getting all my homework for the next few weeks, and am really happy in how Donnie is developing. Sharon really helps us a lot and gives me a lot of confidence to push Donnie and get him out of his comfort zones, this will really help both of us get to the next level of his training and competing.

Early December I was lucky enough to have a session with Sandy Osborn ( an American International dressage Judge) through our friend Janie. To have the judges eyes of someone like Sandy on the ground and training me is amazing. Just the slightest difference to my weight, positioning etc makes such a difference. I can’t wait for her to come back in Summer as she is going to hold a 4 day clinic here in East Sussex and one day at my yard. How exciting!

My new addition who came to us last November, Valentin, has settled in very well and seems like he has been here all his life, even though he is only 2! He is such a cutie, and everyone loves him on the yard. My aims for the next few months are to introduce a lot of new scary things to him and do a lot of ground work. I absolutely love working with Mr V!

We have also had a few changes here at LW Dressage, firstly I would love to introduce to everyone my new groom, Beverley! We are extremely lucky to have her as part of the team here at LW. Bev has been amazing with the horses and the yard looks immaculate. Really looking forward to having Bev with us and will hopefully grow together on our aims and journey in the dressage world.

And secondly I would like to say how lovely it is to have our friend Frances back again with her two lovely ponies, Charlie and Blaze. Frances was stabled with us for years and is so nice to have her back!

Now I better get back to the yard to finish off and teach in the rain, one thing I keep telling myself, SPRING IS CLOSE!
